Frank Sinatra & Ava Gardner

Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner's love affair began while he was still married to Nancy  Barbato Sinatra, whom he soon divorced to be with Ava.  They married in November of 1951 and stayed together until 1957.  Their love life had been passionate, but also explosive, and though they remained lifelong friends, the two felt it was best they lead separate lives.
